UWF's Board Chair, Shauna Hart, is interviewed on the latest podcast episode of "Ahi Va" produced by our sister organization, New Mexico Wildlife Federation.

What if a photograph could do more than capture a beautiful moment in nature? What if it could inspire the next generation of conservationists?
In this episode, Jesse Deubel from the New Mexico Wildlife Federation sits down with Shauna Hart, wildlife photographer, conservationist, and youth mentor, to explore the powerful connection between photography, outdoor education, and wildlife conservation.
Shauna believes that helping people connect with nature is an important first step toward protecting it. Through her photography and her work with Lessons Through the Lens: Kids for Conservation, she is helping young people develop photography skills, learn ethical wildlife viewing practices, and build a deeper appreciation for the wild places and wildlife around them. The program combines hands-on photography instruction with conservation education, encouraging young people to see the natural world in new ways and understand their role in protecting it.
Join us for an inspiring conversation about the power of visual storytelling, the importance of connecting young people with the outdoors, and how a camera can become a tool for conservation. Shauna reminds us that when we learn to look more closely at the world around us, we often find more reasons to protect it.
Because conservation starts with connection—and sometimes, all it takes is seeing the world through a different lens.
