Ensuring Access To Public
Lands and Waters
Our Mission
To secure, protect, and promote equitable access to America’s public lands and navigable waters—for everyone. From anglers and hunters to hikers and paddlers, we believe public lands belong to all of us. Through education, advocacy, and partnership, we work to ensure these spaces remain open, sustainable, and thriving for future generations.
Why It Matters
Public lands and waters are vital to our identity, health, and heritage. But access is under pressure—legal challenges, misinterpretations, and increasing use threaten the very spaces we rely on for recreation, connection, and conservation. We're committed to protecting access while respecting the land, wildlife, and the communities that surround it.

What We're Doing
Our public lands, wildlife, and waters are a shared legacy—by protecting access today, we ensure they remain wild, open, and welcoming for all who follow.

Stream Access Education
Clarifying key legal rulings—such as the right to access navigable waters up to the ordinary high-water mark when entering from public land. We help users understand the legal burden of proving stream navigability and provide tools to responsibly assert their rights.

Agency Collaboration
Partnering with federal and local land managers (BLM, NPS, Forest Service, and others) to improve signage, access points, and sustainable recreation strategies that balance human use with habitat protection.

Equity in Access Advocacy
Supporting legal advocacy and grassroots initiatives to ensure that everyone—regardless of background—can enjoy public lands. Potential partnerships with groups like USAC help amplify this work.

Inclusion of Agricultural Lands
Recognizing the essential role private and agricultural lands play in habitat connectivity and access corridors. We promote collaboration and shared stewardship with landowners.

Public Lands & Waters
Raising awareness about responsible access, habitat protection, and the complex legal landscape surrounding stream and river access. We empower recreationists to know their rights—and their responsibilities.
